SUGRIVA'S SAD STORY. hanuman told the princes of ayodhya that vali, had a brother sugriva. vali was a mighty warrior.once a rakshasa named maaya,challenged vali to fight. the fight went on for days. maaya suddenly disappeared in to a cave. vali and sugriva chased him. vali bade sugriva to stand on guard at the mouth of the cave and went in. for a long time the battle was going onin the cave.some times latter a stream of blood began to flow out of the cave.sugriva thought vali had been killed. he was afraid that maaya would come out . so he rolled a huge boulder and blocked the cave's entrance. then he returned to kishkinnnnda the ministers urged him to assume kingship.so he agreed. mouths latter ,a tired looking vali reached kishkinda. he angrily accused sugriva of deliberately blocking the mouth of the cave.vali would not listen when sugriva repeatedly said that he was innocent... that he had thought maaya has killed vali, so he had blocked the entrance of the cave out of sheer fear.but vali drove sugriva with his wife out of kishkinda.now sugriva was living in safety at rishymooka hill with his followers as he had learned that vali could not come ther because of a curse. once, vali has insulted the sage matanga whose ashram was in the rishyamooka area. the sage cursed him with death , if he vali ever set foot in the rishyamooka area.
''that is why prince sugriva feels safe here he had asked me to bring you to him!''hanuman said as the way to sugriva's cave quite a difficult one, hanuman carried rama and lakshmana on his shoulders.
